Matthew Booth - Principal Dentist / Director
GDC 195060 - BDS, Sheffield University, 2010
Matthew qualified from The University of Sheffield in 2010. During extended professional training he worked in hospital and community posts to widen his knowledge and skill set. These involved hospital ward and theatre work, and also special care, paediatric and restorative dentistry. Since 2012 he has worked predominantly in private practice, and bought East Leigh Dental Care in 2018.
First and foremost he is keen on providing a caring and bespoke service. He has worked with very nervous patients for his whole career and really enjoys helping patients have positive experiences. Prevention of dental disease is key and he will spend a lot of time with you on the preventive advice and actions needed to help secure your dental health and ensure a lifelong smile. Implants are one of the treatments he loves to provide because it takes you on a journey to restoring your confidence and your smile. Many of his patients find this life changing. He completed extensive 1-2-1 surgical training in implant placement and gained his postgraduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry at the beginning of 2026. Study for a postgraduate Masters degree should be completed in 2027.
He has keen interests in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, orthodontic tooth straightening and Cerec ceramic restorations (immediate crowns, inlays and bridges). Numerous courses have been completed to acquire and update these skills. In particular he enjoys providing crowns or inlays to provide durability and longevity to teeth. Cerec treatment is incredibly convenient and comfortable for you as he does not have to take a traditional impression (mould), but instead he will use a scanner and provide the restoration within an hour (or sometimes within a few hours if longer is needed) without the normal 1-2 week delay at the dental laboratory.
Between 2015 and 2018 Matthew was also a member of the General Dental Council’s Fitness to Practice panel where he sat as a member of Committees that heard and decided upon cases involving fellow dental registrants. He paused this work to focus on the practice.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his son, wider family and dachshund. Travelling and the theatre are also keen interests.
James Chippendale - Practice Manager / Director
James bought East Leigh Dental Care with Matthew in 2018.
